Sandakphu Trek

Sandakphu literally means “Height of the Poison Plant”- from poisonous plants that grow near the top. Sandakphu, situated at a height of 3636 mtrs above sea level is a true paradise for all adventure lovers. Trek to the highest point on this hill station and you will get the never seen before views of the Himalayan Range. A long stretch of Himalayas starting from Bhutan till Mt. Everest is visible. One can also view four out of the five highest peaks of the world from here, namely, Mount Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse and Makalu.

Route: New Jalpaiguri- Maneybhanjang –Jowbari- Tumling- Kala pokhri- Sandakphu- Gurdum- Srikhola- Bagdogra

Itinerary

26 January 2022: Arrival at NJP / Bagdogra- Maneybhanjang via cab (4 hours drive)
Day 1 Maneybhanjanga is the Gateway to Singalila range and is a quaint transit town on the foothills of highest point of West Bengal. Arrival and rest, explore the town and acclimatize.

27 January 2022: Jaubhari to Tumling (hike- 5-6 hours)
Day 2: After warm breakfast, start the trek. Tonglu is a small hamlet located where you get a panoramic view of Darjeeling, Kurseong and Kanchenjunga view. Overnight stay in Tumling which is 2 kms away from Tonglu.

28 January 2022: Tonglu to Kala Pokhri (hike-8 hours)
Day 3: Tumling is the arched getaway of Singalila National park – the highest altitude national park of West Bengal.

29 January 2022: Kalapokhri to Sandakphu
Day 4: Here is the most awaited time of the expedition. Gear up for the most exciting day of the trek! Start ascending. We will start the hike from Kala Pokhari to Sandakphu.

30 January 2022:: Sandakphu – Summit of the Sandakphu
Day 5- Pack up and post breakfast, start descending from here and reach Srikhola. Rest for the day! Enjoy the new year vibes in lovely scenic mountain village in Darjeeling district

31 January 2022: Depart (Srikhola to NJP/Bagdogra) (7 hours drive)
Day 6- Our vehicle is ready to drop you to Bagdogra in a Tata Sumo or a similar vehicle. You can book your travel any time after 7 pm.
